Hello, My name is Cathy Jacqueline Southerland. I have lived in Central Kentucky all my life, and like Sister Drake I grew up on a farm in the Forkland area of Boyle County. I have shared the last 40 years of my life with a man called Clyde. Brother Drake performed our wedding ceremony. I am convinced that Jesus is the reason that Clyde and I have such a good marriage. We have two sons. I accepted Christ into my life when I was around 8 years old. I have always had a desire to know God and serve Him, even as a child. I started as a volunteer at WDFB in 2006 and later became a part time employee. To my surprise there was a whole lot more going on behind the scenes than I ever imagined. I thought you flipped a switch and "presto, "the sounds would drift across the airwaves. That misconception was cleared up in a hurry. Some of my responsibilities at the station are putting the public service announcements into the system, keeping the birthday and anniversary calendars up to date, filing and whatever else I am needed for. A few things that make me smile are: Babies, butterflies, the site of an elderly couple walking together holding hands, the voice of my husband calling out "Cathy Jack" (my nick name) hearing our sons when they call me "Mom" A phone call from a friend that lives far away, hearing my favorite song on the radio WDFB is truly a lighthouse to our community and surrounding counties. Lives are being touched through the the preaching of the Word, prayer and singing. There is power in the Word of God and Christian music. In Ephesians 5:19 it says" Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" It is truly a blessing to be part of a ministry that is touching lives and changing hearts. May God richly bless you!!
